As a visualization artist, I had the opportunity to work with BKW Studio, a design firm that specializes in many tenant improvement projects in Southern California. BKW Studio was the project designer/manager for a nail salon tenant client who wanted to remodel their 800 square foot space to create a more attractive and inviting environment for their customers. The client also wanted to highlight their brand colors in different areas of the salon, such as an accent wall, cove lighting, or ceiling soffits.
I worked under the direction of BKW Studio to create a rendering for the nail salon. The rendering was a visual communication tool that helped the client present their remodeling ideas to their landlord. The rendering showed the proposed layout, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories for the salon. The rendering also showed different iterations of the brand colors in different areas, to demonstrate the impact and effect of each option.
Some of the features of the space that I included in the rendering are:
• Marble floors that add a touch of luxury and elegance to the salon.
• Wall mounted LED lights behind diffusers that create a soft but vibrant ambiance for the customers.
• Brand’s black accents on the table’s marble, wall base, and service cabinetry that contrast with the white and pink colors and create a bolder, edgy look.
The rendering helped the client and the landlord to visualize the potential of the space and to discuss the feasibility and cost of the remodeling project. The rendering also helped the client to express their vision and style for the salon, and to create confidence in the landlord to invest in their idea. The rendering was a valuable and effective tool for the design process and the negotiation process.
